In late 1969 I was introduced to Scone by my then partner - Elaine's youngest son. Entering through a veranda door, Mrs McLoughlin (as I always called her) greeted me warmly then noticed my young daughter behind me. 'Who's this little girl?' she asked. Her son casually replied that it was my daughter, Amelia. She looked startled for a moment then reached out to 2 year old Amelia. From then on Amelia was treated as one of her grandchildren, developing a close relationship over the next 41 years. A wonderful woman.
