11 years ago i walked into your home and your life, you looked at myself and your son Shaun and your face lit up, always did everytime we seen you after. I remember you as an excitable person that could tell a great story. I was was in awe, as i listen to stories about your trucking adventures, as well as your life. I was always made to feel welcome as i got to know all of the family, marie, peter and their beautiful girls, your other son paul late last year. late last year we were told it wouldnt be long, for months we watched you fade and suffer and finally last week your body decided you had enough ..may you rest in peace now sparrow... In our minds we always knew this time would come to pass. But knowing it, and living it, has come and gone so fast. Goodbyes are often hard to say, they hurt so very much. Though you're not gone. You still remain, in the minds, hearts, and lives you've touched. sincere condolences Tammy xoxo Sending love and strength to the Marie,Peter, Crystal, Justin, Emma, Shaun and Paul and family, . In this time. memories of Sparrows life will get you through this hard time.. love and friendship always xoxox

Sparrow! Eccentric is the best way I can describe you! But that leaves out other words that describe the you I got to know over the last 30 years. I guess meeting as the boyfriend of your daughter was a bit difficult and we did cross swords over the years but always maintained our friendship. When we were looking through you old slides I saw the younger you and your passion, trucking! I had heard all the stories but did not know the you of that time. I saw Marie in the cab of your truck and she clarified that was her life, “me, Dad and the truck” Hard times but good times with you! Through those photos I got to understand more about you, you always did the best you could with what was at hand and that is the way I will always remember you! Forever in our lives and memories. Peter PS, I will try and explain the Eccentric you that I got to know and have been told about. While you were on holidays I replaced the very old Champion spark plugs in your Covair with new NGK spark plugs, the car was running bad and the new ones fixed it. On return from the holiday you found out and replaced them with the very old Champion spark plugs, Eccentric? I was amazed at the antics you got up to, my favourite was the horn you would often blast as people drove by! I was told by a close truckie friend of yours about the Foden! The air vent on a Foden is a large 7 inch drilled out area around the pedal area of the truck, if you sat on the floor you could look out through it and drive, to people coming the other way would see a truck and no driver! Then there was the story of the driver who drove through Tennant Creek standing on the back of the truck hanging onto reins and whipping the truck as it went through town! The world is a sadder place without you and your antics, keep them guessing up there! Please forgive if this apears twice, I blame the web site!

Sparrow we knew you as Maries Dad, there was never a dull moment, you had such passion for life, a fighter to the very end. You created memories for your family and the friends you made throughout the many seasons of your life. You will be sadly missed. Drive on Sparrow, drive on. I remember Marie, Vicki and myself and we went to Batchlor for the open garden scheme a couple of years ago. Sparrow came over in his Red 1961 Chev Pickup, we had all had the best day together and had a picnic lunch, later in the afternoon Sparrow expain to us, he was having trouble with the pickup, so we agreed to follow him home. Well I didn't realise that we were only going to go 60 or 70 klms an hour, well what a crack up, the drive back from Batchlor will remain in my memory for a long time to come,as we girls in the modern car which was a V8 couldn;t stop laughing all the way home. To our surprise our 60 k an trip went quite quickly, between us all tellin stories about the things we used to do when we were growing up and hoping like hell Sparrow's Pride and joy didn't break down, but she only stop once but to us girls in the car, thankfully it was a small hiccup, and the old red girl was back on the road, with great sigh of relief for the ones in modern day V8 following Sparrow. But the V8 slowly cruised behind the good old trusty Chev and got us girls and Sparrow home safely. I am sure Sparrow has left many happy memories behind in everyone he has meet in his life, as he had lots of stories to tell, as that was one day in us girls. Marie (daughter) Vicki and myself Nola Cheers to Sparrow RIP Red and Nola Hutchins

The term 'great uncle' does NOT exist the correct term is Grand Uncle! Your GRAND Fathers Brother is your GRAND Uncle, You are your GRAND Fathers GRAND Son NOT his 'great son' So to your GRAND Fathers brother you are GRAND Nephew! Its as simple as that. MP
