Have only just heard about Eric's death and wanted to pass on my sympathies to all of Eric's family and friends for your loss. Eric was a cousin of my father Roger Harvey and I only met Eric a couple of times most, recently at Aunty Peg's funeral. Love to you all.
What a wonderful man who raised an amazing clan. He loved his family dearly and always saw things clearly. His words were often wise or witty he knew how to say something fitting. One of his passions was the sea where he always loved to be. Behind the tiller of JUDI-ANN he lived the blessed life of a sailing man. Father-in-law he was to me but so much more he turned out to be. I feel lucky and honoured to know the Special man from Cometrowe.
My fondest memories of Dad include helping him whenever he worked on the car. I loved handing him tools and watching what he was doing. I also loved going with him on errands. Generally I just loved hanging out with him. When I was a little older, my favourite times with Dad were our Friday nights in front of the tv watching Allo Allo and Open All Hours with our KFC nuggets and chips on our laps while Mum was at work and my brother Andrew was out with his friends - we laughed so much! I remember one time he made me feel really proud. I was in Third Class and we were putting together a bush band. Dad offered to bring to the school one of the tea chests that were under the house. When he and Mum arrived at the door of the classroom, the teacher told the class to stand and say "good morning Mr and Mrs Harvey". I remember the feeling of pride that rushed through me seeing my Dad standing there being acknowledged by my classmates. Dad was a fantastic father and a wonderful man. It just isn't the same without him!
