Wow. I can't believe it. GC was always one of my favorite comedians. He was just so in your face and completely hilarious. A couple of weeks ago,I was washing dishes and looked out the window to see a neighbor in 100 degree weather mowing his friggin' lawn. I remarked 'that guy is an ASSHOLE" in GC's voice. I was referring to the bit he does about people being assholes and changing the inflection of his voice for different situations. My husband said 'ok George, calm down'. We laughed.... We also regularly use the phrase 'fucking meow!" as we watch our 3 cats fuck up and crash into shit when they're particularly frisky. Too funny.. George baby, you were in a class by yourself. I will miss you but thankfully you left us an incredible body of work. Much love and laughter! Bye now....

George was the greatest comic that ever lived. He will always be unmatched in every area. What an inspiration he was to me, he provided endless upon endless hours and days and weeks and months of laughter for me. He will be sorely missed, this is an incredibly huge loss. May he be at peace.

George was more than just a "funny man", he was a keen observer of the human condition and one of the most profound thinkers I have ever known. We have lost much more than a good man and a great humorist today - we have lost an institution. In November George was to have been given the Mark Twain award, how fitting, as Samual Clemens was the great social observer of the 19 th century, George Carlin along with the great Kurt Vonnagut we're the two best of the 20 th century. We all morn today, nothing will be the same again, but that's just how life is isn't it ? Goodbye old friend. CS

George Carlin was the first comic to make me fall in love with stand up comedy. Many others have passed through, but Carlin was around for, what... 50+ years as a professional comic. What a guy! Fave Carlin Quote - "Imagine how stupid the average person is, then realize, have of 'em, are stupider than that!" Second Fave Carlin Quote - "In football, you wear a HELMET! In baseball, you wear a cap!" Give 'em hell, George!

George Carlin, you were the best. My favorite skit? Religion is Bullshit, because it's true. I loved your work, and still do love your work. I was deeply saddened by your death, and I will miss seeing new things from you. But you are still alive in memory, and YouTubers will continue to host your work. Love and always, GCFanatic

What a sad day. In my opinion we just lost the greatest standup comedian of all time. I’ve been a fan of George since I was 10 years old (in 1986) when I shouldn’t have been listening to him in the first place! Finally got to see the master at work a couple of years back and it was without a doubt the best standup I have ever seen live. Thanks for all of the laughs and memories over the years. My personal favorite? Probably “BS From The Sky”! Rest In Peace George. You will be missed by myself and all of the millions of other fans whose lives you made happier with your comedic genius. You will be forever imitated but never equaled.

Well, I'm upset to hear about George Carlin dying. I've been watching his stuff for quite a long time now. He was on some show during the 1990's which is where I first saw him when I was young. I recently started watching his shows around 2006, I think. They've all been hilarious. RIP, Carlin. I hope you frisbee landed on a good roof, too. That's all I have to say...........

You are one hell of a man George one of the funniest on the planet and we are all just a bit empty with you gone from it!!!

I knew him as the "Hippie Dippie Weather Man" and for his at times very coarse humor, and then when my first son was born, and loved Thomas the Tank Engine - it was so bizarre to see this man that I knew as perverse wearing a costume and speaking to my son on his favorite show. Hurray for you, George. You never lost your edge, and yet had the ability to play just about anything. Your philosophy of life will be especially missed. We all learned to take a step back and see how absurd our lives and beliefs were because you showed us ourselves in a new and truer light.

i saw george carlin about 15 years ago at teh club casino in hampton beach hew hampshire. i drove 2 hours just to see this show. it was worht the drive and the time off from work and the overly expensive motel room. i have seen many comedians, but none of them could make me laugh like george carlin could. i have just gotten back from doing my own little tribute to him. i stood on a park bench and said the 7 words you can't say on television in a very loud voice over and over and over until i started getting hoarse. i wanted to do it until i got arrested, but it started raingng and lightniong started hitting close to where i was, so i stopped. maybe ithe lightning was george telling me not to steal his material. ;o)

I really thought such an amazing man would live forever, but even the best and brightest of us die. You, George, were so amazing...truly a visionary, a leader, a friend to all your fans, and wonderful inspiration. You had the ability to make us laugh at all humanity's faults, the stupid things dogs do in public, and the fact that cats have no eye brows. Words cannot express how much you will be missed. But you live on in your work, and in the hearts and minds of all of us.

Today is a great day of sadness for the world as a wonderful voice is now silent. George made me think about life, love and the world and how we should act to change the things that we feel are wrong. He gave us all the greatest gifts that a man can offer, WISDOM, INSIGHT and LAUGHTER. My hope for the world is that George Carlin's words and message will never be lost. I know that I will never forget and that he will live on as my children hear his words and are hopefully blessed as I was with his "gifts" You will be missed George. Thanks

As a young lad & fledgling member of a tribe known as The Counter Culture, I had the good fortune to attend the Summerfest show in Milwaukee where George made enertainment & legal history by getting arrested for uttering The Seven Dirty Words. Although he didn't want to leave the stage after first a stagehand & then one of Milwaukee's Finest approached him...it was still a sensational show for the brief time it lasted. The next day, pictures were on the front page of Milwaukee's papers showing George getting led off with that unforgettable expression that combined incredulity with "What Me Worry!", by the local gendarmes. Little did we know at the time that this incident would go on to reflect everything that George stood for and represented ....Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Expression, Freedom of Ideology & Freedom To Laugh Whenever & However For Whatever You Damn Well Please (...oops! there's one of those words...) Leave a light on George...we're on our way... Todd B

"Life Sucks. And Then You Die" You were an amazing man of amazing talents who, quite frankly, wrote the book that made me the person I am today. You influenced my life more than anyone else in my teenage years, and I know that wherever you are, you're probably in charge. I had the honor of seeing you live in my lifetime and you will always be one of, if not my very favorite comic.

George, you opened my eyes and changed my entire life. I swear to you, I'll find the bastard that did this to you and I'll make him pay! If God exists, tell him he's a moron, because Dane Cook is still alive!!! Mankind needs your attitude and your thought process to evolve and survive and I hope all is not lost just because you're passed on. I'm having a child in a few months. Feel free to reincarnate yourself through him. You taught me to lose my hope and faith in humanity and put it in myself and I will never forget that. Your words will still be spoken, your books will still be read, and your memory will live on. You were an axe of the sharpest brand clanging dutifully against the solid granite of the American psyche, and the chips, dents, and scratches on it's surface will never fade thanks to your masterful understanding of human nature. My life is changed, and another chapter ends. Rest easy, George. I hope it's comfy where you are because I have a feeling that in the years to come, you're gonna have a lot of spinnin' to do in there.

the man was brilliant. He not only made you laugh, but think as well. Those of you why say he was mean or nasty, that kinda was the point. He was making observations on life and well, life is'nt all sunshine and rainbows, as today (june 23th) has proven. We have truly lost a great today. He and Richard Pryor, for my money were the top of the comedy latter. Now he and george are gone, and if i live to be 1000, ill never, ever expect to see anyone come close, let alone top those two. RIP George, you crazy old bastard!

Well I can't add much to what has already been said so much better by so many. Except that I will miss my old neighborhood pal. We each grew up on 121st in West Harlem, New York City in the 50's though he was quite a bit older than I at the time. It was a rough neighborhood with a mixture of Blacks, Hispanics and some really tough old Irish families. Yet we all got along with each other for the most part. He and I attended the same Corpus Christi Church on the same 121st street and we both prematurely left Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx! George was a fellow street corner Doo Wop Music fan and few knew that. His humor and sarcastic (yet poignant) way of looking at life was loved and shared by many of us. Always edgy, always relevant and always to be fondly remembered. We'll miss ya George. I know I will . . . John Boyer

When I found George Carlin I realized it was not only okay to question everything, it is a mode of survival! We actually CAN question life and its potholes and not have to worry about being judged here or wherever we all end up. The man was funny to the point of weeping, insightful to the point of god-status, and human to the point of expiration, as these humble and mournful words attest. All of this aside, I saw Mr. Carlin live once in my life, but many times over the years he has enabled me to find out just who it is we all are in the grand scheme of things - and that's okay! I don't think it's hubris to say that there is literally NO ONE left on the earth who can make me laugh and think the way Mr. Carlin did and I thank him for helping me to laugh at life when most of the time I feel like crying or screaming! Here's seven more words you can't say on TV: "George Carlin was just another dark comedian" He was a legend. R.I.P. sir - I love ya from the bottom of my heart! Chris Pratl

My first experience was when I was 16 years old and I bought the AM & FM album. I couldn't believe my mom allowed it! My brother, my friends and I wore that record out. I've saw him in concert a few days after 911 with my brother. That was interesting. But the best part is that I have passed him on to my son. He and I tried to see him in concert in Austin, but the show was canceled 3 times! The 1st and 3rd ones due to George's health. The 2nd one due to the hurricane in Houston. But my son has the albums and the HBO videos to watch and now he is a fan, too. RIP, George, a true legend

A man who I consider a great visionary. His ability to command the english language, as well as his ability to define human behavior was without equal. Watching him in concert both makes you laugh, and provoke thought. I am sad to see that he has left us, but I am grateful for his large body of work that we have to enjoy for years to come. The early years of comedy had Lenny Bruce to call "influential".. for MY generation, there was only George. No other comedian will ever make me look inside ourselves more than he did. He will be missed...

Was a naive squirt when I caught my first glimpse of George in the early 80's on HBO. It was Carlin on Campus. It blew my mind away. I immediately became a disciple. I had every album, video, and book. Was fortunate enough to see him in concert eleven times and was never disappointed (probably would have seen him more but I was limited to how many times he played here in Southern California). I'm hoping that he will be remembered as the most well thought out comic. I can't tell you how many people I have dealt with that perceived him as vulgar and obscene. I saw Dice 8 times. He was vulgar. The most obscene comic I've ever watched was Pauly Shore, who opened for George at a show in Santa Barbara. George pointed out the ordinary and obvious stuff right in front of us that we ignore because we're so involved in our daily lives. It was always smart and introspective. He brought me laughter during difficult times in my life. Thanks for keeping us smiling over the years George. You will be missed but never forgotten.

His comedy didn't just make us laugh hysterically, it made us think as well. He spoke the truth. George said on stage what all of us thought but never had the courage to actually speak aloud. He was an inspiration to so many. He was the very first comedian that ever made me laugh till I cried and my guts ached. This is one man that made a great impact on this world and my generation (as well a few others ;) and he will be sorely missed. There will NEVER be another person like you on this earth! With love, respect and heartache, I say good bye and rest in peace.

I guess now you wont get to see society destroy itself from a first hand perspective. That's too bad, I know you would have enjoyed the show. I first saw you in the"Carlin at Carnegie" HBO special, laughed my ass off for a solid two hours, then went back and replayed it again and again. Your insight, your wit, and your style of delivery are unmatched to this day. So while this big cesspool keeps spinning and humanity continues to destroy itself, I'll look up every now and then and expect to see you kicking back, smiling, taking it all in. We'll all miss you, George. Thanks for everything man, you're the best. And don't worry, as small as it may be, the counterculture is still going strong.
