Dear Guy, its been 3 years now since i met you but to this day your still someone i look up to and will remember for ever. You saved my finger in an accident and i am still so grateful to have been lucky enough to have you as my surgeon. Even though i use to tease you about the big scar you left me with, no one could have done a better job than you. You had the greatest sense of humour which would lighten my mood every time i saw you. I don't know any other doctor that would get so mad at me for not eating hospital food that they would go buy me a hungry jacks burger themselves!! Even though it was a horrible time in my life i am so glad i had the privilege of meeting you and getting to know you, and to this day i still think about you and you put a smile on my face. Rest In Peace Guy and thank you for everything you did for me Love From Taylor

What can I say , I can't believe that you are gone. I'm simply devastated by your passing. It was an absolute pleasure to have worked with you in the operating theatre, the many lives that you touched cannot be measured, there is just too many. Thanks for being my climbing buddy, thanks for the wonderful memories that we shared walking on a glacier ,jumping over crevasses,or climbing that peak. We plannned and trained for the mountains we climbed and the many unclimbed,Sunday mornings at the "Steps " carrying our back packs,I shall miss. Mount McKinley was going to be our big test , and I've no doubt that we would have made it, we always watched for one another. In spirit you will be there with me, guiding me along the way. I'm richer to have known you,you have no idea how you have enriched my life. So for the time being my friend,I thankyou for your friendship, your generosity,I thankyou, for being "Guy". Farewell GD, rest in peace .Denis.

Dear Guy, I am so shocked and saddened to hear of your passing, when we met you Olivia was just 8 months old, you operated on her tiny hand and took care of her as if she was your own and helped make Daryl and I not feel so alone and were always there for any questions. The talent you had in your hands was amazing and will be missed. We are blessed to have known you. Our thoughts go out to your family at this sad time Love from Jenny Steer

Dear Guy, I remember first meeting you in my interview - during which you had an injured shoulder and couldn't shake my hand! Later of course I worked with you on the Plastics unit as a resident. You were always supportive of us and loved to teach. You were interested in your patients and coworkers as people. You had a sharp intuition and were a fine surgeon with a broad knowledge. You didn't just do your duty in Australia, you went out of your way to help the lives of those overseas who could not pay for treatment or access it. You cared about us. We were all very shocked and saddened. Know that you have inspired me and others to do good things and to continue to soldier on. Rest well. Thilini Mahaliyana, Surgical RMO

I remember you bringing two patients in your own car from Monash to Dandenong so they could be operated on that night rather than have to wait for the next days list. Larger than life, funny, great to work with and a true gentleman. What a loss.

A truly amazing man who obviously touched so many lives including ours! Without your brilliance Guy our precious little girl, Zoe would have lost her finger, for that we are forever grateful and indebted to you. You told us that you would look after Zoe as if she were your own and that is exactly what you did, above and beyond. We are so shocked and deeply sadden at your sudden passing and the fact that you will not be here to complete your wonderful "work in progress" on Zoe. Our deepest sympathy to your family, especially to your three beautiful kids. We will always remember you, especially the day Zoe gets engaged!!! Love Natalie, Eddie, Jordyn, Brady & ofcourse ZOE NIEZGODKA

My Dear Guy, You were larger than life and such fun to work with. No one could tell a story like you, you could always put a smile on my face. You were caring and sharing, dedicated and so hard working. Words can't describe the pain I am feeling. Thank you for being a friend to me. I miss you terribly. We all miss you terribly. Cathy

Dear Guy, Four and a half years ago we found out that the baby I was carrying had a deformed hand. All of the people in the medical industry that we encounted were negative and asked if we would abort. Our world was full of gloom and fear, then we met you. The first thing you said when you walked in the room was "you have a perfect, wonderful baby girl who just happens to be missing a few fingers" You changed our entire outlook from then on. You took away all of the fear and hurt and replaced it with positivity and hope. Months down the track when we met our little girl we realised how right you were. You doted on her and worried about her like she was your own. The new fingers you faught for and gave her with the help of you amazing team have truly changed her life. I was watching Bridey the other day dressing a Barbie doll using both of her hands, without you this never would have been possible. I dont think I will ever be able to grasp what you went through before, during and after the operations. You always seemed more worried about her than even we were (if thats possible) But I want you to know that we are eternally grateful to you for everything that you put in. You went above and beyond the job of just a surgeon, you changed and touched our lives, we can never thank you or your family for all of the time and love enough. We are so lucky to have known you. To Meg, Lachlan, Chloe and Charlie, my deepest sympathies. I want you to know what a difference Guy has made to our lives. Some of my fondest memories of him was when we would visit him for a check up on Bridey's "pretty hand" no matter how many people were lined up in the waiting room he would always find such joy in pulling out his camera and showing us the latest happy snaps of you all. He was so proud of his family, you all mean the world to him and it was obvious the way his eyes would light up when talking about his three beautiful children. Guy was more than just a surgeon, he felt like part of the family, always quick to put everyone at ease without having to show off how smart he was. Except for the odd occasion when looking at how well Bridey's hand was doing he would say "Jeeze Im good arent I!" Yes Guy you were the best!! Each day I count my blessings and Guy I count you twice. Couldnt thank you enough if I tried for a million years but thats whats special about you, you are and always will be Wonder Guy. All our love, Carrie, Justin and Bridey

From day one you were so warm and so positive. We were devastated after being told that Mikenna's face would always be a mess, but then we got to speak to you! How lucky we were that you were on duty that day, you put our minds at rest straight away and we knew everything would be ok. Seven years later and we can never thank you enough for everything you have done. You saw Mikenna grow from a 5 year old into a teenager who is not self conscious about her face, and that's because we believed so strongly in you and your abilities. You always made her feel so special and beautiful. We are so sorry this journey won't finish with you Guy. Fate brought you into our lives, but your warmth, generosity and care brought you into our hearts. We are so sad that you are gone, but so glad for having known you. Dani, Nigel and of course Mikenna xx

A truly gifted surgeon. An artist. Dedicated to work, devoted to his family, and passionate about life. Your love of surgery was my inspiration, I wanted to be like you. I believed everything you said, I wish I could remember it all now. I saw you last at Shuwali, you were lying on the floor, with your three kids on top of you, watching Bob the Builder - happy. Indebted to you GD. With love, Cazzalakkazigzag et al x

The world was a better place for having known you, Guy. Words cannot begin to descibe the void your passing will leave behind. A man who truly pushed the limits - personally and professionally, took everything that life had to give and gave so much more back. Gone far too soon, you will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with your family and everyone who's life you graced. Caz and Shane.

Hey Guy I miss you man, hard to put into words the feelings I have right now. Loved working with you, a great surgeon, but you understood your patients and felt for them. You hated authority for it's own sake but respected rules if they changed things for the better and I loved you for it. Maybe one day we will get to K2, maybe you are already there. Maurice.
