My memories of Aunty Hazel...(Aunty Pilly) I have many fond memories of my Aunty...she was very involved in our lives as children...many family holidays and outings were spent with her, Carolyn and Greg.. I remember she was always cheerful...ready to smile and laugh...an extremely hard worker...and we were always glad to see her... I remember wonderful holidays at Manly where we stayed in a flat opposite the surf side beach...at Katoomba when we were literally snowed in...at Ettalong where we used to watch in amazement every afternoon when a guy who owned a car that doubled as a boat completed his journey home across the water...Aunty Frakes joined us for this holiday and I remember much baking ensued...seed cake and peanut cookies were on the agenda... I remember the TV....that we had to put money in every hour on the hour so that it would continue to work...I believe my Mum and Aunty Hazel expressed their dissatisfaction to the owner of the abode when he called in to see how we were going...and from memory...after this the TV miraculously required no money to operate... We also spent time with her and our cousins... when she lived with our grand parents at Carlingford...I remember cheerful bustling mornings in the old kitchen of that beautiful Californian bungalow...the old gas stove...a "proper" cooked breakfast every morning...Christmases spent with the family here also...Ma ma and Fa fa, Skeet and Greg, Uncle Allan and Aunty Verna, Lorraine and Russell. Sitting out on the back verandah...we children had our own little party... My Aunty Hazel's nick name was Pilly or Pill....I can remember my beautiful Dad referring to her as Pill...not sure how this came to be...Carolyn might remember... My Aunty was an AMAZING cook....I will always remember her savoury bread cases....have not tasted one like that since...when she cooked for the nursing home...I can remember she made all of her puddings (traditional plum puddings in cloths) mid year and froze them for Christmas...no tinned puddings for her residents... I can remember staying with her...when she lived in the granny flat @ Kissing Point Rd Dundas...and going to work with her...very fond times...she always made me a hot water bottle @ night when I was ready for bed...and would be up around 4am I believe, getting ready for the day...and cooking me breakfast before we left... I was flower girl for Skeet and Bill's wedding and my sister Robyn was one of the bridesmaids...it was a very proud moment for her I am sure.... These memories make up the fabric of our lives...and we were very fortunate to have Aunty Hazel in ours...I am sorry that I can't be there today to farewell her spirit but I hope my memories in some way...encapsulate what an amazing lady she was... Much love and our sincere condolences, Pat and Wolfgang Woldt and family...
