I am watching Shaka Zulu again for about the 20th time. I absolutely love this movie and the portrayal of Shaka by Mr. Henry Cele is outstanding and oscar worthy. This movie makes me proud of my African heritage and is evidence that the Zulu people were a force to be reckoned with. I am saddened by Mr. Cele's death in 2007 but he will live on forever in my heart and mind as Shaka Zulu. Thank you Mr. Cele for bringing the Zulu kingdom to life in this mini-series. just finished watching the shaka zulu miniseries...... i haven't seen it in a few years now and was so thankful to see it again, i was a young girl when i first watched it and fell inlove with it then, tonight was my husband first time watching it ever and he loved it......... i always have loved to watch mr. henry due to the fact he was a powerful actor with an awesome voice and presence, he also reminds me so much of my grandmothers brother, they could be twins,lol........... i got online to find see what else he had going on and i realized he was no longer amongst us..... my heart is heavy with this news but i thank God for him being on earth the time that he was and for allowing him to bless us with that movie shaka zulu, my heartfelt prayers are with his family and friends. I am at this moment watching the miniseries" SHAKA ZULU".I remember watching this film as achild. I have now introduced it to my 19,17,14, and 12yr old children. Henry was an amazing actor. I too am watching SHAKA ZULA right now..I LOVE THIS MOVIE, LOVE IT! I never knew who played Shaka until today and I decided to look him up. So sorry to see that he has passed away. He was Awesome in this series and should have been given an Oscar for it.

I'm currently watching the Shaka Zulu mini series and was wondering what became of Henry Cele. I wondered why I did not recognize his face in other movies considering he delivered the role of Shaka so well. Of course I have found that he passed away a few years ago and it appears in a painful way too. His name will of course live on for his intense portrayal of Shaka Zulu.

I see a lot of people did not know Henry Cele passed, including myself, but I had the mini series on tape and would always watch it just to see Henry. He payed the role so well, he had me feeling I was Shaka. I never knew he was a goal keeper for a pro soccer team. I would have to say, Im very inspired and impressed by Henry. I have to also say that I have never seen a man in such great shape, I mean he was just cut in a way you couldn't imagine, I'm telling you, you would look at Henry and think that the Terminator himself built him. Anyway Henry Cele we all love and will miss you greatly, you inspired so many people and youth throughout your life here on earth, we wish you peace and blessings in your after life. May you watch over us in our times of need and suffering Amen!

I too like so many others have watched the mini series Shaka Zulu many times over. This is my mother's favorite movie and I have always been very intrigued by this mini series and the man called Shaka. I watched it on Centric too and I told my mother, that for the first time in watching Shaka Zulu I finally watched it critically and was very impressed with the whole story line of this magnificent and tragic people. I knew Henry Cele had passed but I couldn't recall the time of his passing so I too googled and just as his character Shaka it seems his end was as painful. He was one of the most beautiful men I have ever seen and the world truly has lost a great one. When Shaka Zulu originally aired I was too young for it to hold my attention. This time when Centric aired it, I made it my mission to recall the greatness of this cinematic masterpiece. Was headed out on a date with my hubby and was suppose to take a nap prior, but couldn't, I was stuck watching Shaka. Finally pulled myself away, but vowed to YouTube it. Watched in its entirety. The committment of Henry Cele in the of Shaka Zulu along with the entire cast will stay with me forever. Thank you Centric!

I also watched Shaka Zulu yesterday on Centric. I love that mini-series and I remember the first time I saw it back in the 80's and how we (our family) anxiously watched each episode. This movie filled me with every emotion of the time of the Zulu people. Everything about this series is wonderful. Henry Cele was an awesome actor who definately deserved an Oscar, Golden Globe, all awards and accolades for his portrayal of Shaka Zulu.

WOW!!! I was just watching Shaka Zulu on Centric this weekend too after having not seen it since it first aired in the late 80's. I was wondering what Henry has been up to these days and just found out he passed away. I know this is very late but my heart and condolences go out to his family.

We were watching Shaka Zulu again for the umpteenth time and I decided to Google Henry Cele. We were saddened to discover his passing so long ago. His portrayal of the African King was Oscar worthy. Thanks for this showing. RIP Henry and condolences to your family and friends.

Henry Cele was a great actor. His performance on the Shaka mini series was thebest. He made you live back in the times of the real Shaka Zulu. In my opinion, the man deserved an oscar for this great movie.

Just like you I watched the movie. I've seen it so many times including when it first aired in the U.S. I was very shocked that I never heard if his death. He will always be remembered.... nkosi...

Henry Cele was Shaka and a formidable leader of the Zulu nation. I just finished the DVD of the 10 part series of Shaka Zulu. I'm crushed to learn of Henry's death. He came across as a brilliant, superbly intelligent, intense man who is and was uniquely talented and a deep feeling individual. His time on earth was way too short. I would like to express my sincere condolences to his family and friends. Thank you for sharing Henry and his incredible talent with the rest of us. May God comfort your hearts.

A friend of mine told to me about this serie of Shaka Zulu, he said the film was excellent and copied it to me. He was perfectly right! I loved it all, the story, Henry Cele as an actor, the music and all. It was great inspiration and after all these years this film is still one of those I like above all others. Several years after seeing the film for the first time I happened to find Ritter´s biography of Shaka. I bought it and was happy to find out the film followed the real story close enough. I also bought some other books of Zulus. Henry Cele was a genius as an actor. Usually people acting the role of some historic figure are not very convincing, but Cele was a real exception to the rule. Hard to imagine any other doing a better work there. i am still a shaka zulu fan. my favorite movie of all time! thankx, you are shaka! rest in peace!

I grew up in a jungle in New Guniea as a white boy, & saw the old zulu movie with michael caine when I was seven (7) years old. It touched my senses. Then wehen I was older I saw the mini series with henry cele plaing shaka & I watched it again & again. Like the special comments before me, he also inspired me & gave me that tribal passion to live life with everything I had despite the circumstances. In honour of Africa & the 'great elephant' peace be with yu Henry.

I was starting my Martial training at the same time that I first saw this film and it inspired me greatly. It gave me the courage to fight against those who were stronger and taller and faster then myself. It inspired me to go on when it was easier to give up and quit. I trained longer, harder and more consistantly so that i might measure up to the ideal of Shaka. Today, I have a case full of trophies and medals because, every time that i went out on the Dojo floor to fight, I imagined that I WAS Shaka. Rest in peace, you, the tread of whose foot shakes the Earth.

Few people have enacted the cry of a repressed child and have proven that someone wit parth so little can strive to be so much. Chaka played his part as if he were the child himself, and as an adult he showed us all what a man can be if oyu apply ourselves to make a difference. In order to play such a convincing part Henry had to understand the depth of the man Chaka. I loved Chaka for everything he tried to accomplish and I loved Henry for giving us his spirit in every form. I see you Henry, King of the greatest Kings, you will be missed in form but will always live on, like the wealth of Africa.

I could not belive that he was an actor in the movie shaka zulu he played his part so well i belived he was tha actual king i cried when he died in the movie and i still cry now knowing he is no longer here to grace this earth with his royalty he will always be a king the king of the zulu's in my eyes and to his wife of ten years not only you and your family lost a great man but so have we my god bless you and your family through your lost of this a great man in life and death. rest on oh great elaphant peace be with you.

I have long admired the role that Mr. Cele played as Shaka Zulu..He was such a great actor and I would imagine a great person also. I am glad that he lived to see the end of aparthide in South Africa. I am currently watching Shaka Zula on DVD.... I was surfing the web to get information on Mr. Cele when I found out he had passed.
