I have always loved the movie "Shaka Zulu". My sister thinks I'm crazy because I will watch it over and over for days. I am so mesmerized with Henry Cele. Is performance was awesome. I found myself intrigued with him, the history of Shaka Zulu, and his people. I was saddened and shock to find out about the death of this man. My condolences go out to his family.

I only now learned of Mr. Cele's passing and was truly saddened by it. Shaka Zulu truly inspired me, then only 18, to learn more about South Africa's past and the way it was shaped by the Zulu king and the legacy he left behind. The Shaka Zulu mini-series still remains a center piece of my home entertainment library. You will be truly missed Mr. Cele. Bayede!

I recently watched Shaka Zulu for the umpteenth time and decided it was time to catch up on what the the great Henry Cele was up to and was totally shocked and saddened to discover he had died a year ago. I must confess when I first clapped eyed on him as a young girl I fell completely in love with this perfect male specimen in every way from his magnificent physic and beuatiful face to his deep velvet voice. I cannot believe that this magnificent man has been struck down so early in his life. My greatest sympathies go out to his children and family but as long as the story of Shaka has endured so will Henry Cele endure, never to be forgotten.

OH my goodness! I am so saddened by this news that I just read minutes ago. Just as one of the others said, I, too, was thinking of Mr. Cele and wanted to see the latest news about him, and find out what he's doing today, but my heart is ill right now. Having grown up in the south, one just didn't turn on the television and find a Black starring in a film, exclusively. The movie Roots brought a since of pride to most of those like myself, here in the states, but it wasn't until I saw Shaka Zulu that I recaptured that pride of who I was as a young black girl. Nevertheless, I have to admit, when I saw Henry Cele as Shaka Zulu in the movie, I was mesmerised by his good looks, and his role as a proud leader of his people. PEOPLE, I FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS MAN! I am still in love with the man I know as Shaka Zulu, none other than the Honorable Mr. Henry Cele, a proud Zulu man of our time. I decided to google the name Henry Cele to see what projects that Henry was working on and was totally shocked beyond belief when I found out that he passed. I am deeply saddened by this. As a person in the entertainment industty as he was, it would have been my absolute honor to work with him someday. I extend my condolences to his family and I pray that he rests in peace. I've known about Mr. Cele's death for a while now, but I just now became aware of this condolence page through his Wikipedia entry. I first saw the miniseries, Shaka Zulu, when I was just 8 years old. Even at that young and tender age, I was entralled by Mr. Cele's charisma and physical presence. Before Djimon Hounsou, YOU were the #1 African male physical specimen. My chest swelled with pride seeing you portray one of the greatest military tacticians the world has ever known. Even though it's been almost a year since you passed, I'm still in shock over the fact that you are no longer living in this world with us. I recently purchased the DVD box set of Shaka Zulu, and every time I watch it, I will be grateful for the wonderful gift you bestowed upon the world with your unforgettable portrayal of King Shaka. I am watching Shaka Zulu as I write while on Youtube. I had been trying to find this online to watch for a very long time and I am saddened to find out that he had passed away. I first watched Shaka Zulu when it first aired in 1986 or 1987. I was taken by Henry Cele's talent as an actor. He played Shaka Zulu so believable that you would think he was the reincarnation of Shaka. I was sadden to learn of his passing. My heart and prayers goes out to his family. I had a copy of Shaka Zulu in my DVD library. I will continue to watch it to keep Henry Cele alive in my heart as "Shaka Zulu". He will be greatly missed.

I remember the women in Yugoslavia going giddy over Mr Cele's portrail of Shaka , Shaka Zulu was an incredibly popular TV Series when I was growing up there , hard to imagine there were only 10 odd episodes . When I looked up Mr Celes bio today my heart sank when I saw that he was gone so young , hard to know what God's design is but a design there is and I am certain such an advanced soul as Mr Cele has not died at all but has gone on another journey of fulfilment ,.,....

When Shaka Zulu was first aired, my sister & I watched it together. The initial episode was about to begin & I was in the kitchen making us cups of tea. The music began as I carried the cups through the diningroom into the tv room. PBS was showing scenes from the miniseries and before I even reached the tv, I heard it. THAT VOICE. I literally DROPPED the tea and just moved to the tv in something of a trance. From that night I have never stopped loving that mesmerizing voice, that beautiful, intriguing man, and that incredible portrayal of Shaka. Everyone has some kind of idol, and Henry Cele has been mine for over 20 years. My heart is on the ground over his passing. Rest well, Henry. You know, you really ARE ngosi ama ngosi - king of kings.

I have just watched shaka zulu again!! what a fantastic film its one of our best ever by far, we just found out that Henry Cele passed away, he was a talented actor, they could not have got any other actor to play Shaka. A sad loss.

Shaka Zulu, is and wil always be my favorite movie. Henry Cele brought so much life into the character, I truly do not think that anyone else could have played the role as well as he. I've watched this movie over the years, and I never tire of it. He played the role with such strengh and beauty, that kept you mesmerized and wanting more. He shall truly be missed but always remembered.

Visiting South Africa in 1988 with my 3 children, Cele brought the Zulu spirit alive for all of us. He created a lasting memory which enbodied the spirit of the warrior prince and one my children and I will never forget. He is South Africa in our minds! May his spirit watch over South Africa and the children of the world now.

So very very sad to hear that he passed away.What a powerfull actor -for awhile there I realy thought he was Shaka!!! We immigrated to New Zealand 15 years ago ever since we have a tradition in our household once a year we watch "Shaka Zulu" It makes us very sad but at the same time it give's us strength and makes us very proud to be South Africans.

I learnt of Henry Cele's death today. I still remember his outstanding performance as Shaka Zulu, two decades ago. In a previous life, he was a great warrior king of immense stature and grand ambition. I had hoped to meet him in my lifetime. I was saddened that Henry passed away on my birthday.

After doing so, I decided to find out a little more about this powerful actor, only to learned that he had passed last November. I am sadden by discovering his passing. I send condolences to his family and friends. He shall be missed, but his powerful role in the movies, shall live on. The "Great Elephant" has passed on, but his performances shall live on. MR Cele looks alot like my late father , i enjoyed his movies as well , he died so young.

When I was 8 yearls old I got really sick and landed in hospital. This was in 1989. We had just moved from Colombia to Holland and within a matter of weeks I got ill and was put in a ward that had a strict curvew. However, I refused to go to sleep because my mother always let me watch Shaka Zulu. As this was completely unacceptable in a hospital, I kicked up a fuss up to the point that my mother decided to persuade the nurses to put a t.v. close to my bed so I could watch Shaka Zulu. Till this day I am extremely grateful for that gesture (to my mother as well as the nurses). I was sucked in to the story and for a while I was in Afrika and very much so afraid of the witch!- and so on Shaka's side! Thanks Herny Cele. Rest in peace.
