I met Ian in 2009, 2010 when he used to come to the shop I worked at he was a very lovely man.. I went by his shop today to say hello only to be told he had passed away. Very sad:(( am sure he is in a better place watching over us.. R.I.P.. God bless...
I have known Ian for about 27 years. Ian was a lot of fun and liked to pull pranks - some quite outlandish. He could often get other people to play along with his pranks. He showed considerable empathy and was willing to step into the shoes of others less fortunate and get an idea of how they were feeling. I know Ian and his brother, David, were quite close and I offer my sympathy to David and Ian's sister, Catherine. I know both of you will miss Ian terribly.

13 years agoDear Frank I have been looking for an old school friend for a number of years. Sadly, I think that the Ian Austen I have been looking for may be your friend. Do you know if your friend Ian went to Wavell Heights State Primary School in Brisbane. Kind Regards Toni Bartel
