I never knew what the expression, "Only the good die young" meant... until today. I saw Jeff and his band live at Lulu's Roadhouse bar in Cambridge, Ontario and they were bloody amazing. When the rock n roll history books are written, Jeff Healy has easily earned his place. There's a saying: Don't die with your music (songs, singing) inside of you. From what I saw and heard from Jeff, he must have believed in that saying. I'm lucky. I got to see Jeff Healy live and I own one of his outstanding CD's called 'Hell to Pay'. On that CD, Jeff does what in my opinion is far and away the best cover tune that I've ever heard entitled "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", written by the Beatles. George Harrison humbly guests as rhythm guitarist on that song; If you hear no other song or tune by Jeff then please do yourself the favor of downloading that song!

Jeff was playing at a tiny bar/club on Qeen Street in 1986 when I happened to stroll by. I was a fan before entering the venue. A Wizard forever, he lives on in his incredible music.

I am saddened by the untimely death of Jeff Healey I have always been a great fan and devotee of Jeff his broadcasts and his musical ability and admired and respected the warmth and generosity of spirit that he demonstrated through his broadcasts of "My kind of Music" and during his on stage Performances. My respects and condolences to his family and friends which I am sure are countless

In the spring of 1988 some friends and I went to a local bar, and were blown away by an unheard of blind guitarist named Jeff Healey. We returned every night that week (not believing what we were privileged to be seeing), and in subsequent years I have eagerly awaited the release of every album he has put out. I am truly saddened at the loss of this phenomenal musical talent, but that is selfish, because the truer loss is felt by his family and friends. May strength be with you.

I have loved Jeff Healey's music since I first heard the See The Light album. He was truely one of my favorite blues guitar players. He was very inspirational. Any guitar player would be amazing if they could play like Jeff Healey did ,the fact that he played so well and was blind made him twice as amazing and inspirational. You will be sorely missed Jeff ! May you Rest In Peace. My condolences to his wife Cristi and their 13 yr old daughter Rachel as well as their 3 yr old son Derek. Just know kids your dad was truely one great man and someone to be truely proud of !

It's so sad to lose someone who actually contributed to the music culture in a dignified and skillfull manner; this is the legacy he will leave behind. To overcome adversity- even to go so far as to use it in a positive way- and to be successful on one's own terms instead of sucumbing to music media crap- it's truly an achievement to be proud of. Jeff's music will be missed, that's a given, but it's his 'attitude' that will leave the music world sorely lacking....his life may have been short, but I'm sure it was stuffed with great experiences...RIP Jeff.

One of the worlds truly talented artists has been taken from us far too early, witha totaly unique way of playing guitar and a voice that could move from the smooth velvet of "Angel Eyes" to the gritty cigar smoke and whiskey of "highway 49", the only person who could have done such amazing versions of "While my guitar gently weeps" and "Hoochie coochie man". A sad sad loss, and heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.God blessed us with his talent may he bless you now in your loss.

I met and worked with Jeff in the 80's in Halifax. We were all blown away by his amazing talent and what a nice guy he was. His talent and love of music, all music, was infectious. My condolences go out to his family. You will be missed.

On behalf of the National Office of the Canadian Council of the Blind, I want to give my most sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Jeff Healey. Jeff was not only a great singer, but also a great person. I was writing a biography of him for a compilation of short biographies of blind people who refused to beconsidered invalid, and he not only accepted to be part of it; he also called me twice to suggest corrections to the text. Not everyone still in the limelight would do that. So good-bye, sweet angel.

Jeff, your wonderful commentary on the roots of Jazz will be deeply missed. Your passion was unmistakable. The impact you had on anyone who had the good fortune of listening to your radio show and was profound and an afternoon with the Jazz Wizards was nothing short of sheer delight.I defy anyone to not tap your toes while listening to this remarkable band! What will we do without you?

What a lovely person he was, you will be missed sorely. We used to see him at the Black Swan, before he opened his own bar and we used to go down to his bar at Queen and Bathurst whenever we could.

I remember the first time I met Jeff at a field party outside of Toronto. We had a blast. He had gone to school with my boyfriend at the time. He was an amazing man with an amazing voice. He will be deeply missed. Angel Eyes was my most favorite song. May he rest in Peace. My heart felt sympathies to his wife Cristie and their children Rachel and Derek.

I saw Jeff for the 1st time over at Lu Lu's in Kitchener about 10 years ago and he just blew me away! Since then I have been fortunate enough to catch his talent 7 or 8 more times and he just kept getting better and better. He will be missed and remembered fondly as one of the great bluesmen. He is now jamming with all his buddies that have gone before.

Jeef played new years eve 2006-07 in London at countdown london. It was the wettest most miserable weather you could imagine. He played for over 3 hours and didn't say a word. He just kept playing song after song and until the countdown didn't even take a break. It is a true sign of an artists character when you see the fans meant that much to him and the band as a whole. He was the one artist I really dreamt of watching perform live so he fullfilled a dream for me and my kids. my heart and condolences go out to his family friends/bandmates. He will be missed by not only his fans but anyone who ever picked up a guitar and dream of being a famous musician. Thanks Jeff and God speed!

I saw him at a Coffee house in Oakville before he was know.. I always remember the peoples reaction to his unorthodox style of playing. That night he played a number of Beatles songs. I knew then that this guy was going places.

When i first saw Jeff roaring his blues with his beautiful face his powerful voice and his long blond hair, I was so touched. The little I knew that he spent his life battling illness. What a valiant hero, what a discreet person. Jeff it is so sad to see you being beaten up. I am so sorry that you went. You were such an inspiration, and you most definitely are an unsung hero, JEFF. Thank you for all your incredible courage, your discretion and your profound and energetic creative music. Vancouver, Canada

I remember meeting Jeff for the first time, he and his band were playing at Albert's Hall...he blew our socks off and you realized at this early stage of his career that he was destined for greater things...yet another candle has been blown out too soon, but he's gone to play with his good friend Stevie Ray whom he missed dearly.
