I used to visit Jessie at Goondee in Strathfield. Even though she had trouble remembering recent events, she had wonderful memories of her childhood in Paisley, Scotland, of her love for her parents (especially her father), and her time in India. She talked to me with great joy about her husband, Charlie, and her 2 brothers, and she laughed about her disagreements with her sister Ina about spending money. "You can't take it with you", she told me frequently! She also told me about her lovely son Stuart and she spoke about how she loved to enjoy life, to travel and to socialise. She also remembered the words to all the old songs and said she loved to dance when she was young. There was a lot of joy in Jessie in spite of her memory decline and I really enjoyed visiting her. She was a very dear lady and my condolences to her family. Wherever she is now, I hope she's having a great time - and I'm sure she is the life of the party!
