Joan was a feisty, loquacious friend with an indomitable spirit and a keen interest in people, causes, culture and ideas. She has been a friend for over 50 years and played matchmaker to my late husband John and me in 1960. There are many happy memories of visiting each other, travelling together and sharing conversations, meals and a wide range of interests. She was a very special person.
