My family met Jon at Bimbimbi Caravan Park on our first holiday trip north to Woombah in 1976 and we continued to meet up with him every new year for many years. After that we exchanged Christmas cards and a precious annual phone call. Jon was a wise and caring friend and we are devastated that he is not around to laugh with this year. I met Jon around the year 1984. I was about 10 years old and lived next door to Bimbimbi Caravan Park at Woombah. Little did I know that for the next 26 Years, I would have a friend, a father figure, a bloody top bloke to know and a man that called a spade a spade.....regardless of whom it was about. That was Jon. Over that many years, as a young boy to teenager to a family man, Jon shared my life. All the ups and all of those downs. If there was one person who I could talk to, it was him. As a teenager, I used to make home-made pizza for myself and take him a slice or two for his dinner and have our daily chat. That and a xxxx beer would be the deal for that night. Jon took me to one of my first days at Maclean High in his beloved 944 Porsche. God he loved cars!!!! Then there are the many special people I met with Jon in little old Woombah. So many beautiful friends made for life. That's a very special thing, and am proud that JP was part of that. Jonno, I miss you buddy. Renee and the kids miss you. Most importantly mate, we love you.
