Lauren loved to make goofy faces and after she ate she would get so hyper and would do this silly little dance. She was everyone's friend and loved life with such a passion. She wanted to be a photographer and a fashion merchandizer. She was going to live in Miami, FL... she loved the heat, the sun, the ocean and most of all she loved trees. Last time I was in Auburn during parent's weekend, she showed me her favorite tree on campus. Her nickname was Lollypop because she was so sweet. I miss her every second of my life and will never understand how somthing so horrible could ever happen to my baby girl. Lolly, I love you with all my heart. Your momma...

everytime i see something about her i get chills and a sense that i knew her even thought i didn't. i can tell that she had a huge impact on the people she knew and i am so terribly sorry for the loss you have all had to deal with. this beautiful woman was taken much too soon and now we'll never know what she could have accomplished in this world. I never knew miss Lauren, however I went to WHS *class of 05* and I cannot believe that this can happen to someone who walked the same halls that I did and grew up in wonderful Marietta, GA! I'm so deeply sorry for your loss, may God hold you in the palm of His hand and give you peace. This was such a horrible tragedy, Lauren was a beautiful, young girl with the world ahead. I did not know Lauren, but did not need to in order to know the type of person she was. She was part of the Auburn family and that's all I need to know. Her impact on this world is evident in the lifes she has touched, in reading these memories on her page. As a member of the Auburn family, my heart is broken for the Burk family. Lauren, rest in piece and know that the Auburn family will always be there for your family. As you walk with God, know that your family is blessed for the 18 years they got to spend with you.

I remember Lauren when she was around 7 yrs old. I was a friend of her Mother's and I remember Lauren sitting on the couch next to me reading to me out of her books. It broke my heart when I learned that she was gone. I'll always think of her as being that sweet little girl.

i never had the chance to meet Lauren, but i can see that she was a wonderful person who did not deserve this, and i hope her killer is caught.

It’s a relief that this person has been apprehended, and there’s still a long way to go before he is brought to justice, but I do feel better that this person is off the streets. I sincerely hope this will help bring some kind of closure to Lauren’s family, and that she will be able to rest in peace. I commend the task force and the Phenix City police for getting the job done so well. I hope they will remain vigilant on campus for the protection of all of our students.

The students and faculty here at AU are heartbroken over what happened to Lauren...the atmosphere is bleak. I did not know Lauren but I am member of the Auburn student body just as she was and will always be. To the Burk family, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Your little girl is smiling down on all of us.

I didnt know Lauren Burk, however my sister Lauren did. My older sister is a Delta Gam as well and met Lauren Burk through rush in Auburn, both freshmen. My sister called the morning after completely devistated, one of her friends had to go through this horrible tragedy. It hit a little close to home for us because the dorms she had left that night happen to be the same dorm complex my sister lives in, therefor she was walking the same footsteps my sister takes everyday. My cousin was murdered in a similar way in the early 80's, so I know what a family goes through after a tragedy such as this one....It stays with you everyday, and will effect you for the rest of your life. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. Lauren Burk was a beautiful, and from what I understand a wonderful person. No one deserves this, no family deserves a phone call with news like this on the other end.
