My name is Dave Slagle and I first met Luke when he became roommates with my friends Everett Lacro and Flexy Lewis in Orange California. We all trained at Koloseum Gym and became great friends. At that time I worked for Max Muscle and Luke would often help me out by making celebrity appearances at store events (I have uploaded a few pictures). I am greatly saddened to learn of Luke's passing as are many of his friends in California. Luke Wood was a fantastic friend and an inspiration to many bodybuilders around the world. I am honored that he considered me his friend and I will never forget his humor and generosity.

I was very sad to hear of your passing. I still can remember twenty plus years ago when you used to double me almost home on your bike, and drop me off at the corner of Kelvin Ave, I was always late home because we used to chat for ages, laughing at everything. It still makes me smile now, as big as you grew your heart was always bigger, such a lovely, caring guy. I am proud to have known you, much love to your beautiful family. xxx

I remember in 1997 while doing my HSC at benilde you would be there for us in our free periods during the day you would give us the chance to do something either you were waiting outside the entrance to the gym , standing there with a cricket bat , rugby league ball , soccer ball or we could sit with you and talk We could talk to you forever during those free periods in the day i remember in the gym i was doing leg curls as you so happend to turn around i jumped off thinking was doing it wrong and you insisted i get back and show you how i was doing it just shows how much passion you had for you career not just for yourself but for others no matter who they were. There will never be a day i don't think about you Love Jonny

Luke you will always be remembered and never forgotten, as a world class body builder, a true gentleman, an inspiration to many & one of the nicest guys ever to come out of the Australian body building community. We will not let you be forgotten brother.

I observed Luke over the years at bodybuilding shows and although never meet him personally, I did exchange a few emails with him. He was a perfect example of how a bodybuilder should behave. No matter if you were 50kg ringing wet, or 120kg and ripped, Luke treated everyone the same, with respect and dignity. Just such a lovely bloke and took the time for everyone. For me, I remember not only Luke the guy with the awesome physique, but Luke the humble nice guy. Every professional bodybuilder should set an example like he did. It wasn't his muscles that made him a top bloke, he just was!!! RIP.
