Letter to Grandma Amos Hi Grandma. My dad told me the other day you are on your way to a great meadow field. That sounds like fun, but to tell you the truth I don't like walking on grass that much. Dad says I can write you a letter on the PC so here goes. Keep in mind that I am not yet two years old - thank god for Google! But I have already learnt many two key combinations that will close all running applications, much to dads dismay! As for your field, I much prefer my lounge room floor - where I have my couch that Grandma Smith gave me for Xmas, and all the toys that mum and dad gave me. But Grandma Amos I want to tell you a secret - it's much more fun to play with real stuff than toys. Like their wallets and keys! They tried giving me my own mobile but it didn't work! So I used mums mobile the other day to send a picture to my auntie Cindy! Mum was terrified as even she doesn't know how to do that! I have found a great hiding spot for their keys down the side of the TV. Don't tell them - It will be our secret! I really enjoyed the day we spent together. Sorry about the paper flowers. They were so much fun! You have a very nice place, and seemed genuinely thrilled to see me - so I was happy to leave a poopy nappy in your bin. I wore a pretty dress - do you remember? When dad went to put my nappy in the bin outside I got a bit upset. But you calmed me down. "It's OK", you said. "He was my baby once. He'll be back". And he did come back. To pick up all the paper flowers - lol. You said I was such a happy toddler. But took dad to task on my toilet training. Wouldn't have happened in your day, you said. No progress there I'm sorry to report. Grandma I am sad to hear that we can no longer visit you. Dad says we need to write letters but that the postal service is very good and you get them quickly. I hope you are very happy there and have as much fun as I do when playing with my toys. I didn't know you for a very long time but I am just a little girl. My needs are very simple. I wake up with a big smile on my face every morning and mum or dad give me some milk and vegemite toast (which is very yummy!). I am very lucky to be surrounded by so many people who love me. My mum gave me the protection of my great grandmother Iris in my middle name. I am so lucky to have so many Grandmas - I have you, Grandma Smith, Grandma Marj, and Grandma Chris. What more could a girl want? I also have a few men in my life (besides dad, of course who is such a softie!) - Uncle Matthew (who wants to take me for a ride on his motorbike!), Grandpa's Ian (who once wrestled a crocodile!) ,Ted (who has quite a soft spot for me and calls me Snagglebum), and David. Grandma - I am so spoiled with Aunties - Danni (shoe shopper extraordinaire!), Cindy, Natalie, Melissa, El. You know I might not see them very often but when I do they surround me with love and make me feel so protected. They are a lot of fun. I'm sure you would like them all. There is another one - Aunty Megan. Your little girl. But Grandma, she doesn't acknowledge me. I don't know what I did to upset her. We haven't even met. But dad says it is OK - when I am older she will explain it all to me. I trust my dad so am not too worried about it. Dad says she has a little girl about my age. A cousin. Wow - who would have thought grandma? Anyway this being my first letter and all, and with the cost of broadband in Australia, I'd better wrap things up. Grandma I hope you get to your meadow field OK. Mum, Dad and I will be there today to wish you well on your trip. We love you - Mum, Dad & Me. Your grand-daughter Samantha. RIP LMA 26.02.10

We were good buddies once. Thanks for taking me to swimming lessons on those frosty mornings. For letting me open that present on Xmas eve. For helping me get to Vancouver. So glad we made up and had a good laugh the last time we met. In the end, you found your strength. So proud of you! Your little boy - Craig
