Dear Hedy My mother thoroughly enjoyed her time at Willoughby GHS and always spoke with great affection of her students there and how well they were doing. Jill Mercer was at her funeral and it was good to catch up with her and a few other friends. I remember many names as she spoke often of everyone there so it's good to hear what some of them have done. The school certainly did produce some successful artists. I also became an art teacher and professional artist (helenfitzgerald.com) and she was most supportive of everything I did. Thank you so much for your comments. Helen Fitzgerald (nee Moloney)

Mrs Moloney was my art teacher at Willoughby Girls 'High (1961-65). The Art Department was strong with the addition of Mrs. Mercer and Mrs.Harvey. The school produced quite a few girls who entered the art world. Linda Slutzkin (deceased) became Head of Education at the Art Gallery of NSW. Helen Tindall (McCosker) became an artist and book illustrator.I became an art teacher and also worked in Public Programmes with AGNSW and MCA. I am sure there are many more whose talents were encouraged and nutured by this very lovely, gracious lady. I was not aware of her 'other' life and it was wonderful to read about her full and creative existence beyond teaching. A life well lived. Condolences to her family. Hedy Pardey (nee Devid)
