michael thankyou for being part of my childhood memories, riding on our bmx bikes, playing on the farmland in the ditches, the hay filled barns, running across potato fields, hiding in the woods.Playing on the canal behind the scrapyard. On the bus we all used to go to manchester running wild through town then sliding down that slope near the bus stop and then all legging it when the bus came.Climbing all over the container base,we were all crazy kids.More recently memories of your flat you had on fiddlers lane and you showing me your artwork, and that christmas morning me and my son bumped into you coming out of your flat with a girl and that private joke we shared and went our separate ways laughing. One of the last times we spoke you shared with me your thoughts on when you lived in toronto canada and how you thought passionately that the world had much more to offer than good old irlam.I never got chance to tell you how our talk inspired me to go and hopefully explore some of what the world has to offer, all great memories. But most importantly michael thankyou for being my friend rest in peace mate you will always be missed your friend andy (billy)
To Pauline, Keith, Colin & Steven, I have been fortunate enough to have known you and your Mike since babysitting for the boys, when they were babies in the good old days of the original Dove Driver's. It has been an honor and privalige to be part of Mikes life. You raised one of life's genuine, original and brightest stars, he made a difference to everyones life who was fortunate to meet him, thank you. He was so very, very special And was so from the start From the moment you met him You held him in your heart Like a single drop of rain That on still waters fall, His life did ripples make And touched the lives of all. Outrageously funny, carefree and true Loved by everyone through and through You never had to ask him twice Enthusiastic, talented and so damn nice Noted for his smiling face Mike Harvey, no one could ever take your place With all our love and respect Amanda, Debi and families xxxx
Mike you used to be missed when you weren't around, travelling round the world. Now the universe is your palette and your spirit is constantly with us, may it live on and on. Thanks for the many laughs and memories our good friend.
Only a month or so ago I was in contact with him, and we were talking about where we would meet up in the world. I met your brother in Mexico during the famous Wilma Hurricane and whilst most people were stressing about what to do..he was calm as could be with his usual smile making you feel asured that it was going to be fine. He was an amazing person and he will truely be missed. My best wishes to the family Jo Summerfield
I am very saddened and sorry for your loss! I was not a very long-time friend of Mike's... but man could he grow on you in a hurry... You should be proud knowing that he made many people happy and did touch many lives making people re-think why they were doing the 9-5 life.... I know I envied Mike for his lust for life and his want to make all smile around him ability. I met Mike in Isla Mujies (Mexico).. we chased some lasses...lol... shared a few pints... I first thought he was crazy... but soon found his friendship to be priceless.... He also came down to Windsor Ontario Canada to visit myself and others he had met while we were in Isla... He was a hit again. I hope in the ever after he finds a great big canvass to paint his greatest masterpiece... If it is any condolence... to all of you in his family.. He spoke very well about you all.. not to great depth... but always spoke of how he loved his family... Be proud of a man who could travel alone... but never worry about making friends... he had a heart that was genuine and good.. Be proud of the man he was... took bravery and spirit to live the way he did... I am a better person for being lucky enough to have met him.. Again I am sorry for not only your loss... but the world who sometimes just needs a bit of a dreamer and traveler to make it all seem a bit more interesting... He is missed and in my prayers. Regards Steve Driscoll

A colourful character that will never be forgotten, who always had a smile for everyone.
Genius, like gold and precious stones, is chiefly prized because of its rarity. Geniuses are people who dash of weird, wild, incomprehensible poems with astonishing facility, and get booming drunk and sleep in the gutter. Genius elevates its possessor to ineffable spheres far above the vulgar world and fills his soul with regal contempt for the gross and sordid things of earth. It is probably on account of this that people who have genius do not pay their board, as a general thing. Geniuses are very singular. If you see a young man who has frowsy hair and distraught look, and affects eccentricity in dress, you may set him down for a genius. If he sings about the degeneracy of a world which courts vulgar opulence and neglects brains, he is undoubtedly a genius. If he is too proud to accept assistance, and spurns it with a lordly air at the very same time that he knows he can't make a living to save his life, he is most certainly a genius. If he hangs on and sticks to poetry, notwithstanding sawing wood comes handier to him, he is a true genius. If he throws away every opportunity in life and crushes the affection and the patience of his friends and then protests in sickly rhymes of his hard lot, And finally persists, in spite of the sound advice of persons who have got sense but not any genius, persists in going up some infamous back alley dying in rags and dirt, he is beyond all question a genius. Mark Twain
A genuine Uncut Diamond of pure genius! Thats how I will always think of you mate! They say its not how long a candle burns for but how brightly it shines and with you that speaks for itself mate. You packed more into your short life than any one else could have packed into a hundred years. You lived with loads of guts coz you lived the way you wanted to live and you was always your own man! We saw the millenium in in st. Petes together and did a runner with the $4oo.oo bar tab!! Your life read like a book and every word of it true , mate, never for you mate the house , the wife and the two kids. You were always the free spirit, never ever pretending to be anything else.. You could and should have wrote a book mate and its heartbreaking to know that there was a full stop where there should have been a comma! You'll live forever in my memory top lad I will never ever forget ya and its been a hell of a privilige to call you my mate. Love Ya Mike xxx Steve Smith

I knew you for about twenty years, when we met, you were a rum young lad with a cheeky laugh and a bag full of spray cans. You were always good to bump into and to be around because your well mentioned smile and cheeky banter would always brighten up anybody’s day. I am sure there are lots of us who wish we had the guts to live life as you did. Your life may have been short mate, but nobody could ever say it was empty. May you rest in peace and may your family be consoled by the fact that you were loved by so many people from so many miles around. God Bless.xxx Wayne And Claire
Lucky enough to play football with you as a kid, watch and admire you with a pencil in your hand and trying to beat you and the rest at pool every dinner in the fifth year common room. It's so sad. Peace be with you Mike.
Mike, as others have commented, your cheeky grin, evident on all the pictures will be missed forever. I didn't see your recent artwork but remember the days Wonko recalls. I used to look in admiration at the pieces you left around Irlam precinct and the train bridge and surrounding areas ! You clearly progressed and developed a maturity in an area that so few are blessed with. My memories recall conversations in the early hours about what life would bring and where paths would lead......your certainly traveled and achieved what you set out to do it's such a shame....... My heart goes out to your family and Col. I cannot begin to imagine the heartache they all must be feeling right now. Sincerest respect Steve
Rest in peace Harv's you will be greatly missed by all who knew you. Yet another young life to be taken from this earth. Hope your with your old friend Finny. My heart goes out to Harvey family at this terrible time. Bye bye Mike x
Mike, when I was a little girl I loved you from afar. You were a beautiful creature with a twinkle in your eye and a cheeky smile that was brighter than the stars. When I grew up you were still a cheeky sod! You always made me laugh, and you brought a smile to all who were around you - what more could you ask for hey! Now that I am older I know what a wonderful person you were; your remarkable talents, your ferocious appetite for life and your mischievous ways. A wanderer in many ways, you always inspired me on my own adventures. You may be gone, but you will not be forgotten – you’ve definitely left an imprint on me. xxx

Mike I've known you for as long as I can remember....you was always a regular face in our house as I was growing up. I'll always remember your cheeky smile. You definately lived life to the full but it is so unfair how it had to end so suddenly. My deepest sympathy is sent to all your family at this time, I hope they can find some comfort from the amazing tributes that have been written about you here. R.I.P and GOD BLESS Love Karen
Mike like a few others, managed to escape the confines of Irlam which often stiffles young men who need to explore and express; themselves, their creativity and this beautiful world that surrounds us... knowing that Irlam is home and certainly where his heart was, it's a downright tragedy that someone who lived his life to the full, took risks, made the most of opportunities and let nothing and no-one hold him back, was taken from us so soon. Michael was a ray of sunshine and may his light shine through in the eyes of all his family and within his awe inspiring art work. Salford salutes you. My love and prayers to all who grieve for him xXx
