Yes, I would agree he was a wonderful person not just a Dr. I certainly have very caring and friendly memories. I made contact after about a 10 year gap when your Dad was at Eastwood. I took ill with the chicken pox over christmas/new year and he came to see me and recommended that I go into a hospital. He came to see me most days ... when most people did not want to visit due to having guests and the festive season! You may be interested to know that my Mum told me I was his father's patient initially (although I have no recollection whatsoever). My late Uncle (Alden Claasz) recalled him being a student at Royal College (in the same era) and another late family friend (Dr Edward Schokman) also from Royal recalled him in our conversations. I recall my Alden mentioning that your grandfather used to come by 'rickshaw' to treat his patients and his Mum was one of them (they lived down De Fonseka Place). So, here's something for the family history you may want to include. I do remember though your Grandma living I think in the house next door to the surgery. I had lost touch and had no idea he had a long illness. He was a genuine, caring person. May your Mum and the rest of the family cherish those happy memories.
