Dad, lived and breathed Navy. I accompanied him on two Navy days, one on the Duchess and the other on the Melbourne. The Navy day on the Duchess stays in my memory, because as a boy I got to see first-hand the dropping of a depth charge and watching the target we were pulling being fired upon from Navy aircraft. I can't remember anything that Dad told me about the ship, so you can see why I was not Navy material.
We know little about Dad's life at sea and so if anyone has a story about this part of his life it would be appreciated by his children.
