I cried openly on hearing about the sudden death of a gentleman I always loved to watch on TV on the programme MEET THE PRESS on sundays. Although originally i came from Sri Lanka & now residing in Ontario, Canada, Tim Russert was a person who attracted & inspired many with his personal touch to any subject he was dealing with; his smile was so special; his comments to the point; he always made the person he was talking to comfortable. I always, always watch the evening news with Brian Williams & when he calls on Tim Russert for his comments on any White House matters or the current presidential elections, I knew I was going to hear the trueth from Tim Russett. May God bless u & your loving Father, wife & son.......

Throughout the capital cities of America -- and indeed, the world -- politics is for many a religion. And if this religion is Catholic, then Tim Russert is a saint.

In 1998 my husband had the opportunityand privilege to go to DC and see the Red Wings compete with the Washington Capitols and win the Stanley Cup Playoff. Before going to this memorable game, my husband went to a local pub/tavern and while sitting there he saw Tim Russert with friends. As avid NBC watchers, we have watch Tim throughout his career and felt he was like family. My husband gathered the courage and excitedly told him why he was in DC and that he and his wife watch him every Sunday and that his wife would kill him if she knew he saw him and that he didn't tell him so. Tim graciously asked my husband what his wifes name was. He then pulled out a NBC business card and wrote "Katie-Go Red Wings!!!!!! Tim. As excited as my husband Lee was that the Red WIngs won he was equally as excited to bring me that business card! It is a highlight that we have shared with many Mid Westerners!!! After following all the coverage one word keeps coming back to describe him-Authentic! How proud he would be and is, as he is watching from heaven-of his son Luke talking yesterday on the Today show. What an amazing job his parents have done raising him-He is the epitome of class-like father, like son! Katie

When Tim was to report on the NBC nightly news, regardless of where I was going I had to wait until I heard him. He was the most interesting, well-read, humorous, and the man of the hour when it came to his stats and facts. He was like my brother. I miss him very much.

I spent eighth grade through high school with Timmy .íHe was always playing practical jokes on me. He was going to be presdent and íi was going to be a nun. I was riding my bike through Vienna when ÍI got the news. I still can not believe it. We lived down the street from each other and had a lot of laughs. I am still in Europe and wish ÍI could payí my respects. I can not imagine watching the elections without him. H e was such a part of Buffalo and the daily news. Cheryl Smith Bennett

We believe that our Lord has a plan. God hit this one right on the money. Tim, showed his love, respect and loyalty to his Father and Son. The books touched so many lives. Tim has gone to meet all the presidents he never had a chance to interview, but with his death he brought so many fathers, sons, daughters together this fathers day. This was his way of using his faith in mankind ,to prove his love to the end,

Whenever I came across a televised Russert interview, I came to a complete stop and watched and listened. He was so bright and articulate, and not an elitist bone in his body. In a class all by himself, at the very top of his profession. I want to express my deepest regards to Maureen and Luke, and congratulate you for the enviable privilege of sharing the life of such an exceptional man. And to Luke, I want to share an old German saying that the great German theologian, Otto Debelius, told my father some 53 years ago: "When God wishes to honor a man, He gives him clever children." God certainly honored your father. You represent a wonderful legacy; all the very best.

I'm 59 years young and have seen elections come and go. In 1960 I meet both dem. John F Kennedy and Henry Cabot Lodge and followed politics for a few years very close. In 1964 election Sen. Barry Goldwater stated he would bomb N. Viet Nam heavily and lost the election to LBJ. I lost faith in the polictical world because a man won election who lied to us. Tim Russert restoried my faith in our way of gov'mt by just being honest with us and politition having to be honest with us because if they were not Tim Russert would call them on it. He also made politics easy to understand cause he spoke in terms we all could understand. His epitaf should read "HE TAUGHT THE WORLD HOW TO UNDERSTAND THE AMERICAN POLITICAL SYSTEM IN A WAY WE ALL CAN UNDERSTAND'. Thank you TIM and I'm sure God is doing his homework cause he knows you are and if you ever have a chance to interview him he'll know he must be prepared..God bless you, big Russ your entire family and friends. YOU WILL BE MISSED BY ALL YOU'VE TOUCHED IN ANYWAY!!!!!!

I was fourteen years old during the 2000 Presidential election - a freshman in high school, obsessed with politics, and completely enthralled with the first presidential election that I would truly be able to sit through, understand, and be a part of. Now I am a college graduate, and the memory of Tim, his whiteboard, and the weeks that it took to have a winner (I wrote updates in my school planner everyday) are still with me. That election was one of the most pivotal events in my life - it gave me my love of politics, and Tim was there right along with me. In May I graduate from the College of the Holy Cross, and I while I was always grateful for my education, I never felt more proud of the Jesuits and what they gave me than in these past few days, truly realizing the type of people we can become, people like Tim. Ad maiorem Dei gloriam Tim, I have never been prouder to say those words. You lived your life by them.

Tim was one of the few voices of reason left in the politcal scene of this country. He also was one of very few in his field that gave you a sense of pride every time you watched or heard him. I think he represented for all of us our favorite and most inspirational teacher in school. Unlike those teachers, who we left behind as we moved on through life, Tim stayed with us and continued to add to our knowledge. We'll miss you big guy, you had a warm heart and a willingness to share that so few have. John I

I started watching "Meet the Press" while a college student back in 1991. History has Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite, Jim McKay, and now Tim Russert. Cheers to the man who could break down politics so every American could understand it.. regardless of race, educational status, or socio-economic background. You will be missed.

I feel we have all been given the greatest gift on earth, a man who so honored his family and country, and made us feel so good about ourselves when we were in his presence. I always took the opprotunity to watch Tim on TV or read an aricle when I saw his name attached to it. We inately know what is good and pure, and want to be apart of that and surround ourself with that goodness. God has taken Tim away from us for he had a bigger plan for him. I believe our lives are better and fuller for having had him in our life. His time was short - but lived so well! Let us celebrate his wonderful life - not mourne his passing! Thank you Tim for all you have given us! Rest now, and do your fine work in Heaven. Luke will be fine - you did a GRAND job!

My heart broke when I heard the news of Tim Russert's untimely death. This man knew how to get to the bottom of the things when it came to political issues and our government. It was Meet the Press on Sunday mornings when I wanted to know what was going on on Capitol Hill. I just enjoyed when Tim would catch them in a lie of some sort and have the evidence there to prove it. Even though we all knew Tim for a short time, God our Heavenly Gracious Father, knew him a whole lot longer - even before he was born. I offer my deep condolences to the family and close friends of the late Mr. Tim Russert. A special prayer goes out to Luke. I know how difficult it is to lose someone so dear to your heart. I myself lost my mother at the tender young age of 45. I must say that at that time, very little words healed my broken heart. I still cry at times-even now. Luke, It's okay to cry. You never seem to want to let go of the memories and the last time you saw them alive. That's okay and normal too. I pray that God continues to provide his comfort and show his love to you, your mother and grandfather right now. Let us not completely mourn the loss of this extraodinary man, but instead celebrate and remember his life to the fullest, what he gave to us and what he left behind. We have loss Mr. Tim Russert, but Heaven has gained another soul. As many others probably have said before, I say to you well done Time and thank you. I personally will miss you. Rest well.

I have been watching Meet the Press for many years and was saddened by the news that Tim Russert had passed away suddenly while at work. Although I never met him, Tim Russert always seem to be passionate about his work, his family, his love of sports and in particular - his love of politics. I have heard many in the political arena, whether liberal, moderate, or conservative express their respect of him because he was a fair but tough interviewer. Tim Russert was so very astute in his analysis of Washington politics that he as almost like a seer. I know that he spoke passionately about this year's upcoming presidential elections as the most exciting and most important event of our recent times and I know he would have loved to have been there to see it to its conclusion. I was looking forward to Tim's observation and analysis, his presence that often was like a favorite uncle, older brother, long time child hood friend who told it like it was but with a knowing sense of humility and wisdom. So here's to you Tim, and may Irish eyes smile upon you.

I always referred to Tim Russert as Guiding Light for an ordinary person. Mr. Russert asked the politicians or any person he interviewed questions which interested to the American citizens. Even though it has been three days since I heard the awful news, It didn't registrated yet in my mind, I feel like I lost a memeber of my family. We will not be able to watch Mr. Russert each Sunday morning at NBC as moderator of "Meet the Press", I will miss Mr. Russert analizing the general elections with his uniqe way - with honesty, respect to the candidates and sometimes with elegant humor. After watching Tim Russert for so many years I felt that I knew him as a person - honest, compassionet, larger then life personality. There are not enough words in any language to describe a great person like Tim Russert. Tim Russert legacy to broadcasters - you can be tough but respectful! Tim Russert legacy to us all - be nice, respectful and passioned toward other person even if he/she is diferent than you are. Hope that we will be able to receive signs of wisdom from the nation's angel above - Tim Russsert. My deepest sympathy to the Russert family. Sirona. New York, NY

I had never met Tim but felt as close to him as if he were someone who had been invited to dinner. There is something about people with a strong faith that is magnetic to other believers. I would always stop what I was doing when Tim was on TV. I purchased numerous copies of both of Tim's books and gave them to people I loved; my husband, my son, my father-in-law, my pastor friend. I am grateful for the leasons Tim has taught all of us.

You have the Boss of Music and you have the Boss of Politics, Tim was the Boss of Politics, the voice of reason, the educator. He always explained politics to the lay people in plain english. I can't imagine an election without him. Like baseball and hotdogs, Fathers Day and Tim Russert will forever be linked together. The instant inwhich I found out you had passed when my sister called me at work I felt like I had loss a family member. The irony of him passing just before Father's Day when it was Tim Russert who made you feel proud to have your parent and child so much a part of your life and to enjoy and embrace their love. I personally have deeply mourned the loss of Tim Russert. I looked forward each Sunday to see his Meet the Press show to get my weekly snapshot of the world of politics. I especially was looking forward to Tim's coverage of the 2008 election. His excitement and enthusiam about politics was contageous! The election coverage will seem ho-hum without his good-humored insight. Many in America, like me, took it for granted that he would be there many years to come, and I cannot imagine how anyone could fill his big Irish shoes. He was truly an inspiration. My prayers go out to the Russert family for the premature loss of this GREAT MAN.

I was saddened to hear of Mr. Russert's sudden death. I loved seeing his friendly, smiling face and hearing his take on the presidential candidates. He was an incredible example of a man who excelled at his profession but did not let it consume him to the point of neglecting his family. His job was extremely demanding, but being a son, husband and father were every bit as important to him, and it showed. He also lived out his faith in all that he did. You must be so very proud of him. He lived life to the full, and I doubt he had any regrets. My sympathy and prayers to all of you.

How does one say good bye to an old friend? In ways that can not be count Tim touched the lives of so many people and we are all the better for it. From his show Meet the Press to his books to his love of his hometown, Buffalo, to his love of his family. Tim left and long lasting and positive impression on all that he touched. Meet the Press was all Tim Russert and those who were on it knew they had to be at their best. But when one finished watching Tim's interview of whomever sat in the guest's chair had a better understanding of the guest, the issues and the reality of it all. His books Big Russ and Me and Wisdom of our Fathers are loving tributes to Dads everywhere and blue print of how a regular guy can be a loving dad. He never forgot his roots as we saw so often at the end of show if the Bills or Sabres were playing (I somehow didn't seem to mind so much when they beat my Dolphins). His love for life and doing all that he could to help all that he could can never be replaced. Our lives are the better because of Tim Russert, he touched so many of us without evering meeting so many of us. Sunday mornings with my coffee, my newspaper and without him just won't seem the same. Thank you Tim--may the good Lord keep you in the palm of his hand until we can all meet again........teg

Having been born in 1955, I feel as if Mr. Russert and I grew up in the same changes thoughout our world. He met it head on. I went into the field of Psychology, Human Services, and Social Work. Everyone in my family are politically astute, and intelligent professionals. They have made it imperative to "keep up" with what was occurring in the World. I often tried to avoid the evening news, or, the front page of the Newspaper. Mr. Russert changed all that for me. I would find ways to be available Sunday mornings to watch his program. I learned SO much. As an Episcopalian, lapsed, married to a man of Faith, too, a lapsed Catholic., we have shared our tears, emotions, and pride, having known through this wonderful man for many years, Ironically, while 15 years younger, I have a friend who looks so much like Tim R., that it is eerie. Dear God Why did you have to take someone so needed as Tim Russert? He was the only sensible mind in the news media today. He did not have an agenda and you could rely on him for your weekly information. He was respected by everyone who watched Meet The Press. Who can we rely on now? It was comforting to see him there every Sunday morning asking the difficult questions and getting the answers. He was like a father to us all! I was in a store and the a woman came in and announced the news and everyone reacted in disbelief. How could it be? How do we make sense of this loss. Everybody was in shock. It was like a member of our immediate family had died! How sad that it was such a sudden and untimely death! We never had a chance to say good-bye! We will miss you!

When I came home on Friday after work, I was in a great mood. Then I turned on the television, and heard about Tim Russerts untimely death, and my mood was changed entirely, to very saddened. Although I never met Tim, I felt like I knew him personally, since he wore his heart on his sleeve. I am not big into politics, but his show, was the only political show I would sit and enjoy without having to listen to screaming matches, and back and forth rhetoric, between commentators. Also at elections times, he was the only one I could actually beleive, when it came to who was ahead at that time. I live in Florida, and I keep picturing his white "Dry Erase" board saying FLORIDA ! FLORIDA ! FLORIDA !. Tim was always Cool, Calm and Collected, and always asked all the right questions on his show. He was very intelligent, articulate, very fair, and yet very real. I will miss seeing his beautiful happy face on T.V., and I will miss getting the true political inside information as only Tim could give. He was so in love with his family, his work, and his country. My prayers go out to his family and friends, and although I do not follow sports too much, I must say in his honor, GO BILLS !!!!!
