Beyond this statement I do not know what else to say - Unto gave to all of us who came into contact with him, whether it was his time, his wisdom, the sharing his knowledge or sense of humour, or simply listening, - all without question or need and with kindness and a warm heart (and the occasional bar of Fazer!). I was shocked and saddened to hear of Unto's sudden illness and death. Unto was an expert in his field, willing to give help and advice to those who needed it. For a standards guy he also had a very practical nature and a much appreciated dry sense of humour! He was a kind hearted man who was much respected and will be greatly missed. When I joined Nokia about 15 years ago, Unto was one of the first colleagues, whom I learned to know. He impressed me as a person of wide knowledge and experience of quality management but also of good humour and friendliness. He always had time to mentor me and was never arrogant or ignorant but warm-hearted and very helpful. I clearly remember my first business trip to Petaluma, USA with Unto. When I told him that I was quite nervous, he encouraged me and said: "You know, I'm rather nervous, too. But it is normal and it means that you will be observant and perform well." This was the first and the only time, when a Nokia director told me that he was nervous as well. To me, this was a great sign of honesty, humanity and openness. I also learned to know Unto as a very natural and sincere person, who enjoyed skiing and occupying himself at his summer cottage. And when we started the habit of bringing some bakery to the office on Fridays, Unto used to bake by himself. My warmest sympathy to Unto's family, Anna Tuominen

Unto was a kind and dear colleague who humbly and graciously shared his wisdom with us all. When Unto spoke, we all knew we had an opportunity to listen and learn.
