Val was one of the first people to join The Royal Oak Bookgroup back in 2002. She attended regularly until she resigned a couple of years ago. I was very fond of Val and had enormous respect for her literary opinions. She presented her views so eloquently, revealing her compassion and deep interest in the frailties of the human condition. My sincere condolences go to her family and loved ones. I shall miss our little spontaneous, yet always meaningful chats, on Darling Street. Suzanne
