My memory of Valery and her family started in 1951 on the ship bound for Australia Val her Mum and sister Pat were in the cabin next to my Mother and me our two families became friends and we all became one family for many years we would go on outings together, sleepovers at the Barr household was a regular thing for me as my mother and father often worked weekends so I would spend my time s taying there from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. Val and I would have to share a two foot wide single bed. I remember her teenage yrs where she gave her mother hell. I also remember going to Sydney with her and our mothers to get her fitted for her nurses uniform. The love she had for her black cat and how she would dress it up in baby clothes and take it for walks in her dolls pram.
