Our sympathy to the family and friends of Vic O’Connor for your sad loss. Vic must have been a remarkable man of many talents. His work, spanning much of the twentieth century, deserves to be more widely recognised. This photo shows members of the O’Connor and Schultz families at the home of Harold Schultz, known as ‘the Mayor of Billygoat Hill’. Ada O’Connor, Vic’s mother, is at left (wearing hat). Schultz (centre right, in cap) was her brother-in-law. Can anyone tell us whether the boy standing at right rear is Vic O’Connor, or identify others in the picture? The Mount Evelyn History Group has adopted this as our masthead photo, as it’s so eloquent of life in Mt Evelyn in the 1930s. Mount Evelyn History Group
Vic taught me to shuffle cards at the ripe old age of 4. Will be missed dearly by all the McCarthy and Whelan clans xoLisa
