When I was understudying Dick Van Patten and Frank Grshin in a national tour of THE SUNSHINE BOYS in 2001-02, Dick invited Dom and Carol to be among Dick's pals to see the play and visit backstage in Cerritos, CA. Dom and Carol both had pictures taken with me and signed them very effusively after I had some 8 X 10 copies made. From that time, we exchanged Christmas cards every year, and three or four years ago, after another giant, Louis Nye, passed away, I was invited to Louis's memorial services at his house in Pacific Palisades (on December 1), where I had visited many times , as Louis had been like a second father and mentor to me since the late 1960s when I was a local TV personality in Las Vegas. Among those at the service were Dom and Carol. They only lived a block away from Louis (on Corsica Drive), and were lifelong friends. Dom, Carol and I spoke about so much that afternoon. That was the last time I was with them, but their personalities complemented each other so well, and there were always the warmest and most geniunely loving feelings when with them. All three of our birthdays were only days apart, and as fellow Leos, we laughed about that coincidence, too. I'll be 72 this coming August 5th. Dom would have been 76 August 3rd or 4th, and Carol's birthday was either one of those days, too. Bottom lne: He had such a profoundly joyful effect on my life, I feel like part of ME died today. The world is much emptier, but Heaven is certainly much happier. He truly is one who is irreplaceable, and thank God film, DVDs and tapes will allow him to continue to make the world happy, in perpetuity. God bless you, Dom. You made our lives so very much better, and the privilege to have known you was beyond a blessing. Deepest condolences to Carol and family. Barry ZeVan, Minneapolis, MN

When I heared about the passing of Dom the first thing that came to mind was one of my favorite Stargate SG1 episodes that was the only episode with him in it. I located the episode in my Stagate collection and watched it with my wife. We also have a copy of The Twelve Chairs. We will miss him but at least there are permanent records of his wonderful work to be had. Our sympathy to his family and all the fans he has gained in his lifetime.

Another light has gone out on a shining star. I will miss you. The laughter shared over the years, the delight when you appeared on a TV show or in a movie...those will sustain me until the day comes when I will join you in Heaven and we can laugh our butts off! Do angels have butts? Sue

I was 18 and visiting a friend who lived in a small apartment on Santa Monica Blvd and 20th street. She had no phone and, as it was midnight, I had to call my mom to let her know I'd be a little late. I walked to a phone booth a block away and was amazed to see a man using it and another one waiting. So, I got in line. The man in front of me turned, pointed to the other man using the phone, and said to me, "Do you know who that is?! Its Mel Brooks!" I thought to myself that the man talking to me looked awfully familiar and told him so. He said he was Dom Deluise, that they were filming a movie down the street and they were giving their wives a call (ah, the days before cell phones). He asked if my boyfriend and I would like to wander down and watch. After making my phone call, we walked down to where they were filming "Silent Movie". Mr. Deluise saw us, called us over, introduced us to a couple of the actors and explained the scene. We hung out for a while, completely star struck! I left feeling very lucky to have had my short encounter with this wonderfully down-to-earth, funny and personable man. I'm sure he will be truly missed!

My family lived next door to the "STARS", that was used by the Burt Reynolds Dinner Theater in Jupiter FL. My 6 yr old son was always playing outside of the courtyard and out of all those "STARS" that walked pass my son, only Dom DeLuise stopped, not once... but several times to talk and play with him. My wife and I knew who he was but did not interupt those special moments but he endeared himself into our hearts. A WONDERFUL human being will be missed, but he will still be within our hearts. NOW, DOM, you have a higher audience to bring laughter and spread your receipes to and all to standing ovations !!!

During his tenure with NBC my ex-husband used to "volunteer" as unit manager for the Sunday tapings of the Dean Martin show just so we could be there for the hysterically funny dress rehearsals which always featured Dom. I used to sit in the audience beside his wife Carol, who was pregnant. Once we brought our son, Petar, to the dress rehearsal, and Dom and Carol decided that would be a great name for their son (not spelled the same, of course). It's always been a treasured connection to a wonderful and loving duo. Dom, if your life here was just a dress rehearsal...there'll be tears of laughter in heaven.

To his family, friends who loved him dearly- my condolences. To Dom up in heaven, I know you will now continue to share your bright spirit, loving soul and humorous character with all those who surround you in Heaven. As for the ones who remain here, we will remember, cherish and continue to laugh and remember the warmth and smiles you brought into our lives for so many years. Until we meet again my friend, know that we will miss you and we love you so very much!

My first memory of Dom is the Dean Martin show when I was young, too young to know what was so funny. Then later seeing the re-runs and laughing so hard I almost peed. And learning to cook and loving it and my size 14. You will never know how many people you helped and made laugh. I hope God will let you see some of the things you touched and made better. You made the world a better place. Thank you, I know he is in heaven keeping them laughing. We can only hope to see you there.

Dom was a great entertainer, a great chef, and a beautiful person. He always showed the ultimate respect for family in the great Italian tradition. I especially liked his performance in "Fatso," which revealed that Dom, who struggled with his weight, had a sense of humor about himself. I will always remember and miss him. May God bless his soul and give comfort to his family. I am sure that he is preparing a great dish right now for the Almighty!

I was working the Airport Sheraton back in the 80's and Mr. Deluise stayed there for a night. He was the most kind man I had ever met. You would of never known he was a star if you hadn't known who he was. He gave all of us a picture of himself and signed each and every one. I remember I asked him to sign Captain chaos because I loved him playing that character and he did. We truly lost a very talented, kind man. He was so sweet and so very funny. I loved it when he would appear on the Tonight show with Johnny Carson. Boy, can you imagine all the laughs in heaven right now! lol Dom, you will be surly missed.

..does make you feel better. Some of my family's best times involved Dom and his cookbooks. While making lasagne, I'd read the excerpt "Shut Up and Eat Your Lasagne" or we'd watch one of his movies. Don't know which was better, the food or the laughs. Dom, I'm sure St. Ant'eny & Fr. Orsini are very proud of you. My family will continue to hold you close

I was a PR guy at ABC TV and we had a press luncheon with Dom. He pulls up and tells me he is sick and I could see that he was. We went into the luncheon and you could not tell he was sick. In fact, he went above the call, and ended up in the kitchen posing with kitchen staff and doning a chef hat. I was truly amazed. What a very nice man and a professional.

Dom came into my families life in Durham, North Carolina in 1991. My own father had just passed and I was a very confused soul. He saw me looking at him and it was like he knew I needed a good laugh.....and boy did I get one. He was getting fitted for a new sole on his shoe and acted like he was falling on me when he stood up. It was very funny and we became instant friends. I told my brother Sammy about it and he came and met him right then. We became very close from that time on and he made me feel like I was alive again in my soul. Thank you Dom for letting me laugh again when I needed it the most...I will never forget you. Melissa Johnson-Winston-Salem, N.C.

I was pleasantly surprised some years ago to learn that Dom was Honorary Chair for the Guardians of Hydrocephalus Research Foundation. I have always lived with "hydro" and have lived very well with it for most of my life, but so many do not, and it touched me to know he would lend his name and his time to the cause of getting the word out about this life-threatening condition. Although Guardians and I had parted way a long time ago, due to differences in philosophy over advocating on behalf of those affected with hydrocephalus, I'm glad they were able to get Dom to help with their efforts to assist families dealing with this condition. R.I.P., Dom. You'll be missed! :(

A shockingly inappropriate and not at all cooking-related tip from Dom DeLuise, courtesy of the Cooking with Dom DeLuise interactive CD-ROM. Dom tries to extol the virtues of the computer era, but just ends up making a gigantic, racist ass of himself. Note the MULTIPLE TIMES where Dom is bleeped because what he is saying is too obscene to include on the CD-ROM in unedited form, as well as the one moment that's too much for the camera crew to handle. This disc is MAGICAL.

Only Mr Deluise could pull this off because he make fun of everyone with pure honesty humor that is what made him who he was i do not feel what was bleeped and if any of the language is correct but it was done in comedy never to be meant to hurt or offend any one i cannot picture him in that light and i am sure he would not want us to think it was meant in malous please enjoy comedy with smiles and thank you so much for sharing this video
